CairnsCam.info is a website streaming live images of Palm Cove beach to an international audience. The Palm Cove web camera is set up on top of the roof of a local Palm Cove restaurant, Ando’s Bar and Grill. It is the only web camera to provide live, streaming pictures of Palm Cove beach.

Visitors can put themselves in the picture’ by standing in front of the web camera and letting their friends and family know to log-on. This is a great way to stay in touch and an innovation for Palm Cove beachside weddings.

Shayne Thomson has been shooting and editing video for the past 10 years. Initially based in Broome, Western Australia, Shayne worked extensively covering festivals and events and shooting news footage for ABC Television in the Kimberley region. An avid cameraman and surf lover, Shayne installed a web camera overlooking Cable Beach and named it BroomeCam. Initially the camera was just so Shayne could check the wind conditions without driving down, however www.BroomeCam.com soon had a loyal following of people wanting to ‘put themselves into the picture’ on Cable Beach.

The idea of connecting into Cairns came after Shayne traversed the Savannah Way, considered to be Australia’s greatest adventure drive, and realised this Tourist Drive linked similar lifestyles in Cairns and Broome. Built on a similar philosophy, www.CairnsCam.info gets you ‘in the picture’ quickly as well as having all the familiar web cam features.

Richard Johnston joined CairnsCam.info in 2010, bringing extensive website development and on-line marketing skills to the project. His Cairns website company, RJ New Designs, has delivered effective on-line solutions for Cairns businesses for over seven years.
