Easter Saturday was one happy couple's special day, with the nuptials taking place right in front of CairnsCam. All morning people were busy preparing for the ceremony, setting out chairs and a stunning, flower-entwined arbour. It was a great day to get married at the beach; the waters were blue and the winds gentle. The happy couple exchanged vows mid-afternoon, in front of friends and family. CairnsCam caught all the action, so we hope family members logged on and made the most of our new video streaming footage.

Easter Sunday was glorious too. The winds picked up, making it a great day for the kite surfers to show off their skills along Palm Cove beach. People had come to celebrate Easter at Palm Cove from around the city, region and world. A family from the Tablelands picnicked on the grassy beachfront, under the shady trees, while another crew assembled at the BBQ tables, setting up a tarp for extra shade. They even brought their goats, who placidly chewed the grass while tethered to the table, as their owners munched on lamb chops, steaks, salads and rolls. It just goes to show, anything rolls at Palm Cove and everyone is welcome!

Further along the waterfront, closer to the pier, it looked like a boys day out, with about 30 mates securing a shaded table area to have some beers and prawns for Easter lunch.

The restaurants were buzzing too. Andos Bar and Grill was busy, with diners making the most of the shaded outdoor deck and stunning views over the beach and Coral Sea. Today, we chose to have lunch at Angsana Resort and Spa's restaurant, Far Horizons. Securing a table on the breachfront deck, we sipped on Horizon Sunset cocktails, watching the kite surfers offshore and the sunlight dapple down through the coconut trees. If this is not paradise, then we can certainly see it from here.

Other customers, from South Africa and America, discussed the stunning location and magic weather, enjoying their Easter break at Palm Cove, Australia.

After lunch we strolled back along the waterfront and enjoyed an ice-cream from Numi. It is Autumn in Cairns and Palm Cove at the moment, but the weather is still warm enough for the chocolate ice-cream to make a mess of its cone and owner. Another day in paradise.

Postscript: Tuesday 26 April 2011 – Due to viewer feedback, we made the trip to Palm Cove this morning to clean the CairnsCam camera. You should see a difference in picture quality again now. Apologies for yesterday’s hazy day on-line, all of this wind had blown some sea spray on to the lens. Meantime, it is a stunning morning out at Palm Cove and all pictures accompanying this post were taken this morning. We enjoyed breakfast at Ando’s Bar and Grill – love those bacon and eggs with turkish bread, washed down with a creamy latte – before taking a stroll along the beach. Lots of people fishing on the pier this morning and enjoying breakfast on the waterfront.

Arriving into Palm Cove at 8am the azure waters were hugging the coastline like a silk sheet, glassy, flat and ebbing down Palm Cove beach thanks to a gentle tide. The sky arched above the beach, a canvas of blue with only a few scattered white clouds. Today is one of the reasons why Palm Cove draws visitors from around the world to enjoy its golden shores.

The jetty is a popular fishing choice for the locals in December. While this morning's crowd did not seem to be landing too many fish, we did hear all about the giant barracuda ‘that got away'. The jetty provides the perfect vantage point to enjoy the sights of this wonderful destination.

Double Island is glittering in the waters just to the left of us, the rocky headland outcrop behind us provides a sheltered nook for young families to play in the sand, while in the distance, the rainforest mountains look like a cool retreat.

Gazing over a picture-perfect Palm Cove beach you feel as though you are living in a postcard.

Leaving the jetty, we wander along the tree lined beachfront, escaping the early morning heat, while still enjoying the beautiful day and fabulous ocean views. We stumble across beachfront wedding preparations: the flower-entwined arbor is already set-up and the happy couple's names are etched into a giant sand heart. Palm Cove weddings are a popular choice for locals and visitors alike at any time of the year: they certainly could not have asked for better weather today.

Today's weather is forecast is tipped to reach 35 degrees and it feels like we're already there. Visitors are enjoying the resort pools and Palm Cove beach swimming enclosure. Think we might join them on another day in paradise – Palm Cove in December.
